The Signs & Designs Story

It all began more than 35 years ago…

In February 1979, Kip Kapinos, having 7 years of sign making experience, started Signs and Designs Unlimited in his home on Grant Street in Bozeman, Montana.

With great attention to detail and an eye for layout, Kip provided the community with hand painted signs and set the benchmark for sandblasted wood signs. In 1983, Kip moved his family, along with Signs and Designs Unlimited, out onto Huffine Lane, setting up shop in the iconic blue-gray barn sporting the graphic of the hand holding a paint brush.  It was during this time that Kip’s son, Kelly, began learning the sign trade.

Kelly and his father joined forces in 1998 and worked together until 2008 when Kip retired. At that time, Kelly moved Signs and Designs Unlimited to its current location in Four Corners at 288 Pronghorn Trail.

We've continued to grow with the Bozeman community.

Since the birth of Signs & Designs, many things about the sign trade have changed.  From the days of hand painting to the present day use of computers, vinyl, and large format printers, we have been diligent in keeping our products and equipment current while continuing to offer options with more of a personal touch, such as our sandblasted wood signs.

Signs and Designs Unlimited is still committed to providing its customers with personal service, premier craftsmanship, and unique sign solutions.  We strive to be the best at what we do and to create a lasting relationship with our customers.  Signs and Designs Unlimited is the oldest sign shop in Gallatin County and we are proud to be a locally owned, non-franchise sign shop.  This means that more of your money stays right here in the local economy.
